LurePartsOnline.com carries a wide range of silicone skirt material. Silicone is an ideal product for making fishing lure skirts as it is elastic, durable, and retains its color. Silicone will not “melt” in your tackle box (like the traditional rubber skirts did) and will not react to or bleed out when in contact with soft plastic lures. This material comes in extra-fine cut strips (often called tabs or pads) that are attached at both ends to ensure efficient skirt assembly. The tips, which hold the material together, are only cut off after the assembly is complete, allowing the skirt strands to spring free. Your skirt is now ready to fish!
Rubber collars are the most common way to “tie” skirts, however, some anglers prefer to tie skirts with thread where a tighter collar can be achieved with more flare. Rubber collars come in numerous styles, from simple bands to collars that have rattle holders. For assembly, you will need a device to stretch the collar open in order to insert your skirt material.
Skirts can be made with the desired “fullness” for your application. See the four most common skirt types below. Of course, the sky is the limit when making your own skirts, and they can be customized down to the last strand! Tab colors can be mixed and matched to achieve the desired color pattern.

Lite Skirt – 50 strands (2 full tabs & 1 half tab)
Standard Skirt – 60 strands (3 full tabs)
Accent Skirt – 70 strands (3 full tabs and 1 half tab accent)
Full Skirt – 80 strands (4 full tabs)

Better action than standard silicone

by

My skirts show better action with the finer silicone. Great for finesse presentations. Note - you will need more tabs than the standard 2 to make a good skirt. I recommend minimum 3 or even 4 to get good full skirt.

Never going back to regular silicone

Much better action. I catch way more fish with this material. Better action in the water. Fish hammer it! I spray the skirts with scent and fish hold jig longer so an old fart like me has time to set the hook ;)

Good - Better - Best!

Tie up some green pumpkin skirts with this material and you will never fish another skirt in your life. Unbelievable action from these fine strands of silicone. Skirt literally "breathes" in the water. You can fish as slow as you want, skirt is moving constantly.

Works Great

I have been using this fine cut material for many years. The action is second to none. I mix some fine cut in with regular cut and I like the look I get. Try mixing strands, it makes a bigger difference than you think.
